Personal Thoughts:
The 40th Anniversary models are instantly collectible – short production, premium woods, and voicing that leans closer to PRS’ vintage-correct McCarty roots. The SC56 platform in particular nails that thick, rich, singlecut harmonic bloom that people normally associate with high-dollar ‘50s style heritage instruments.
Faded Blue Jean is one of the most iconic colours PRS ever developed – its figuring always looks 3D and deep – and the 40th Anniversary tops are carefully selected for exactly that kind of presentation.
Tonally, this leans warm, fat, and vintage–musical. Tight low end, syrupy mids, and a smooth treble response. They are incredibly responsive to picking dynamics.
In short – this is a future grail PRS.
