Charcoal Denim is one of those finishes that rewards a second look. From across the room it reads dark and understated, but under lights the 10 Top flame starts working through as a smoky, three dimensional ripple rather than loud contrast, with a cooler denim cast over the maple. Natural mahogany back and neck keep the underside warm, and the bound rosewood, Outline Old School Birds and hybrid hardware sit cleanly against that darker top.

Underneath it is pure McCarty 594: Pattern Vintage mahogany neck, 24.594" scale and a 10" radius East Indian rosewood board. The shorter scale gives that slightly slinkier string feel, and the Pattern Vintage carve has the full, rounded shoulders that make a 594 so easy to settle into for long sessions. The difference here is the Gen III tremolo: you keep the vintage note bloom of the 594 platform, but you get gentle vibrato and shimmer when you want it.

McCarty III humbuckers are a strong match for that platform: warm and vocal clean, thick and singing when pushed, with independent push pull coil taps opening useful single coil textures. Dual volumes and tones make the middle position easy to balance, which is where a 594 really comes alive.

A trem equipped 594 had previously only been available through Private Stock, so this Wood Library limited run is a genuine step up for players who want that configuration without a Private Stock wait. Serial 0432663, hang tagged Wood Library / Pattern Vintage, direct US import and never played: clean as new example of one of the more interesting McCarty builds PRS has offered lately.
