The Modern Eagle I is one of the most important high-end PRS models of the 2000s and has become increasingly desirable thanks to its combination of exceptional timber selection, understated styling and genuinely distinctive feel. The Red Tiger finish is particularly striking here, with strong definition through the figured maple and, importantly, no obvious colour fade.
The defining feature of the first-generation Modern Eagle is the extensive use of Brazilian rosewood, including the solid rosewood neck and fingerboard. It gives the guitar a very different feel from a conventional mahogany-neck PRS, with a dense, substantial quality in the hand and a wonderfully immediate response. Paired with the 25" scale and stoptail bridge, it makes for a very solid, resonant instrument.
The original Modern Eagle humbuckers are another major part of the character. They have a warm, open and highly articulate voice, sitting somewhere between classic PAF-style richness and the clarity associated with PRS. Clean sounds remain broad and detailed, while driven tones retain excellent note separation and harmonic complexity.
Early Modern Eagle I guitars have developed a strong following with both collectors and players, and this is a particularly attractive example thanks to the vivid Red Tiger finish and highly desirable Brazilian rosewood construction.
Condition Report
Very good condition. There are a few minor impressions to the front of the body along with some very light playwear from careful use. Otherwise, the guitar remains remarkably clean for its age, with no significant damage and, notably, no meaningful fade to the Red Tiger finish. Supplied with its original PRS suede hardshell case.
