Personal Thoughts:
This is a genuinely special piece of PRS history. The Swamp Ash Studio Multi-Foil guitars were created to honour PRS’ early “Metal” and “Multi-Metal” finishes from the late ’80s — finishes that are now hugely significant to collectors. Each guitar was hand-blotted while the metallic coat was still wet, meaning no two finishes are remotely alike.
The Happy Foil colour is one of only five made worldwide, placing this firmly into blue-chip PRS collector territory. These instruments almost never surface, and when they do, they’re usually held long-term.
Beyond the rarity, it’s also a phenomenal sounding guitar. The Swamp Ash body delivers clarity, snap and openness, while the Narrowfield pickups provide single-coil articulation without noise. The 57/08 bridge humbucker adds warmth and punch when needed, making this one of the most versatile Studio configurations PRS have ever produced.
It’s equal parts historical artefact, high-end instrument, and visual statement — a true centrepiece guitar.
